Your journey through the agreement
11 sections 0% read
The whole thing, briefly
Five lines. The eleven sections below say the same thing in full.
- We give your child questions and give you a weekly report on how they are doing.
- Twenty questions and the complete report are free. Plans cost what the pricing page says.
- You keep one family login. Do not share it outside your household.
- Plans are not refundable once opened, but see the refund policy for the exceptions.
- We are a small team in Nairobi, not a large company, and we say so plainly.
Who you are agreeing with
Mimi Hodari is operated by the Mimi Hodari team, based in Kasarani, Nairobi, Kenya, contactable at [email protected] and +254 182 637 022. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean that. "You" means the parent or guardian who created the account.
Who may open an account
An account must be opened by an adult parent or guardian, who is responsible for it. Children do not have their own logins here and cannot create an account. By signing up you confirm you are the parent or guardian of the child you add, and that you agree to us holding their first name, grade and answers for the purposes set out in the privacy policy.
What we provide
Practice questions written to the Kenyan national curriculum, and a weekly report naming the misunderstandings behind your child's wrong answers.
Grade 6 is complete today. Other grades are being written and we say clearly on the site which are available. We do not promise a date for grades that are not yet written, and you should not buy a plan expecting content that the site does not say exists.
We work hard on accuracy, and every question is reviewed before it is approved. Even so, in a bank of several thousand questions an error is possible. Tell us and we will fix it. That is the fastest route for everyone, and it is why the person who wrote the questions answers the email.
Your account, and one household
One login belongs to one family. You may share it within your household (that is the point, it is designed for one shared phone) but not beyond it.
Keeping the account safe
- Keep your password to yourself. Anyone with it can see your child's report and buy plans.
- Choose a PIN your child cannot guess. It is the only thing standing between them and the report and billing.
- Tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into your account.
We may suspend an account being shared well beyond a single household, or used in a way that damages the service for others. We would contact you first.
Paying
Prices are shown on the pricing page in Kenyan shillings and are what you are charged. Payment is by M-Pesa, through Safaricom.
Before you enter your PIN
The prompt on your phone will show a personal name rather than Mimi Hodari, because the Till is registered in the name of a member of the team. That is us.
- A plan opens only when Safaricom confirms the payment, not when the prompt is sent.
- Nothing renews automatically. No card is stored. A plan runs out and nothing happens until you choose to pay again.
- Upgrading is available at any time: you pay the full price of the new plan, and the days left on your current one are added to it rather than lost. Moving to a smaller plan does not cut short the plan you are on — you keep it until its last day, and the smaller one begins from there.
- Refunds are covered by the refund policy, which forms part of these terms.
The free tier
Every family gets twenty free questions and the complete weekly report, not a preview of it. The report stays free whether or not you ever pay. We may change the size of the free allowance for new accounts, but not retrospectively for questions already answered.
What we ask you not to do
- Copy the questions or the reports and republish or sell them.
- Try to break into the service, other accounts, or the database.
- Use automated tools to pull the question bank out.
The questions, the misconception labels, the reports and the design are ours. You are welcome to print your own child's report and hand it to their teacher. That is what it is for.
When the service is unavailable
We aim to keep it running at all times, but this is software and occasionally it will not be. If it is unavailable for a meaningful part of a period you have paid for, the refund policy says what happens.
We are not liable for indirect losses: a missed revision session, or an exam result. Nothing here limits our liability for anything the law does not allow us to limit, including our own fraud or negligence.
Ending it
You may stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may close an account that breaks these terms, and would explain why. If we close your account for something that was not your fault, we refund the unused part of any plan.
Changes to these terms
If we change anything significant we will tell you by email before it takes effect. Small corrections (clearer wording, a fixed typo) will simply appear here with a new date at the top.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and Kenyan courts have jurisdiction. Nothing here removes rights you have under Kenyan consumer law.
One more thing
If any of this reads as unfair, say so. These terms were written to be readable and even-handed, not to hide anything. Email [email protected] and a person will answer.
Still have a question?
Terms should not be confusing. If something is not clear, ask us and we will explain it in plain words.
